Elizabeth C. Bishop of Laurens, SC passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at Martha Franks Retirement Community at the age of 97.
Elizabeth was very dedicated to her family and to her church. As a Mom, a Grandma, and a Great Grandma she was very unselfish in giving her all to support her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her church.
Born in Gray Court, SC on June 20,1929 to the parents of Carey H. Compton Sr. and Lillie Mae Miller Compton. Elizabeth is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 72 years Bobby Bishop of Laurens, SC as well as one son Ricky Bishop and his wife Sindy of Lake Wylie, SC, four grandchildren Sean, Nicole, Brandi and Terrence and 9 great grandchildren.
She is also predeceased by one son Glenn Bishop, five brothers, Albert, Workman, Frank, Armond, Carey Compton and four sisters, Jennie Mae Sloan, Alice Sloan, Flora Bell Mims and Ruby Martin.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Martha Franks Rasor Chapel in Laurens, SC from 11:00AM until 12:00 PM prior to the Funeral Service held in the Chapel at 12:00 PM.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Laurens, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Martha Franks Retirement Community or Lutheran Hospice.
