Waterloo man killed in Greenville shooting incident

Greenville County Sheriff’s Office investigators made an arrest Sunday in the shooting death of a Waterloo man that occurred on Saturday night after an apparent argument on Roper Mountain Road.
Bennie Quarterrious Anderson, 35, of Waterloo was killed in the incident.
Anderson suffered a single gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Jemiel De’Quinton Gowans, 33, has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in Anderson’s death.
According to reports, the two men were involved in a verbal altercation at a birthday party that led to the shooting around 10:45 p.m. Saturday.
Gowans left the scene and was found by investigators a short time later at a hotel where he was taken into custody.

The suspect was denied bond by a Greenville County magistrate judge and remains in the Greenville County Detention Center.
