Gray Court man in federal custody following arrest

Aberdeen C. Craig

A Gray Court man wanted on federal warrant on Fentanyl distribution charges was arrested this past week following an investigation that was initiated by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office.

Aberdeen Cornelius Craig was arrested on the morning of July 15 following a vehicle pursuit in Gray Court, the LCSO said.

Craig was wanted by federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officials on charges of distribution of Fentanyl resulting in death, and he also faces charges locally of assault and battery high and aggravated in nature, failure to stop for blue lights and reckless driving.

Following his arrest, a search of Craig’s residence led to additional charges of operating a gaming house. The LCSO said $18,000 was seized during that search.

Though initially booked into the Laurens County Detention Center, Craig is now in federal custody.

“We want our neighborhoods to be safe and for families to live and prosper in Laurens County,” said Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds. “This kind of environment fosters and evil-like lifestyle at the expense of good people. I would like to thank our investigators and the DEA for their work on this case.”
