Red Devils rout Yellowjackets, 60-0

Clinton RB Angelo Cromer (4) added a 51-yard touchdown run to the Red Devils’ 60-point onslaught Friday at Union County.
Clinton rebounded from last week’s disappointing home loss to Daniel with a 60-0 road victory over Union County Friday night.
The Red Devils (3-2) scored seven rushing touchdowns, including two apiece by Javen Cook and K.J. Vance as Clinton jumped out to a 40-0 lead by halftime.
The Clinton defense also got on the scoreboard with a 10-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by Kynius Williams in the second quarter while also holding the Yellowjackets (1-5) to 154 yards of total offense on 58 plays (2.6 yards per snap).
“Our guys locked in at practice, and we just focused on getting better on ourselves,” said Clinton head coach Corey Fountain. “Moving the puzzle pieces around seems like what we have to do pretty often this season, and now some guys are stepping up.”
Cook, who was named to the annual Touchstone Energy Bowl all-star game (formerly the North-South Game) along with Red Devils teammate Chris Boyd, finished with 42 yards on six rushes, and Angelo Cromer carried twice for 61 yards, including a 51 yards touchdown run.
The Red Devils will begin their Region 1-2A schedule next Friday at home against Liberty (4-2).
