Deceased identified in CPD shooting
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed in a shooting involving a Clinton Police officer Sunday night at Highland Park Apartments on Musgrove Street in Clinton.
The deceased was identified as Brodie Reese, 31, of Clinton.
Chief Deputy Coroner Ashley Rushton and Deputy Coroner Randy Riddle responded to a call reporting a fatality shortly after 8:30 p.m. Reese was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy determined the cause of death as a gunshot wound.
Clinton Police said in a release that officers responded to an incident involving a weapon at the location.
The incident is still under investigation. As is protocol in officer-involved shootings, the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is now in charge of the investigation along with the Laurens County Coroner’s Office.
