Betty Wood Stewart

Betty Wood Stewart, age 80, and wife of 53 years to the late Bobby Barrett Stewart, was reunited with her earthly sweetheart and her heavenly Savior on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at the home of her family, Barrett and Nikki.  Bobby most likely greeted Betty at the heavenly gates by his daily words of endearment, “Told you last, because I love you the most, always have and always will.”

Born in Gray Court on January 29, 1945, to the late James Ray Wood and Mary Nivy Armstrong Wood, Betty retired from a career in cosmetology and was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Barrett Stewart (Nikki) of Laurens; two grandsons, Rett Stewart      (Skylar Parsons) and Eli Stewart; a special family member, Martha Jean “Penny” Knox; and “sisters by choice”, Naomi Nelson and Sally Wasson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty is predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and Robert Lee Robertson.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Alex D. Henderson and Rev. David Cathcart.

The family will receive friends at Kennedy Mortuary on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

Burial will be at Westview Memorial Park immediately following the service.

The family will be at the home.
