‘Project Wolf’ bringing automotive supplier to Laurens County

The Laurens County Council unanimously approved first reading of a fee-in-lieu of taxes (FILOT) agreement at its regular meeting Monday night that paves the way for “Project Wolf” to proceed in the Fountain Inn area of the county off of I-385.

“Project Wolf” includes a minimum $9.51 million investment and will initially bring 22 new jobs to the county, said Laurens County Development Corporation President/CEO Jonathan Coleman.

“It will be a new facility and new property,” Coleman said.

While details of the new industry were not disclosed, Coleman said “Project Wolf” is an automotive supplier and is to be located near Yenfeng Automotive, which employs about 1,000 people, along the I-385 corridor in Fountain Inn, and ZF Transmissions in Gray Court.

Coleman said the average hourly wage for industrial jobs – such as the ones that will become available for “Project Wolf” – in Laurens County is now at $21.93 per hour.
