Joan Cummings Smith, 73, of Laurens, and wife of Daniel Lanier Smith, passed away on January 4, 2025, at PRISMA Healthcare Laurens County Hospital.
Born on September 22, 1951, in Augusta, Georgia, she is a daughter of the late Furman David and Margie Wardell Cummings. Joan loved softball, fishing and was an avid bowler and worked for many years as a Correctional Officer with the SC Department of Corrections at Perry and Leath locations.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, David Lanier Smith of Laurens and Corey Pascal Smith of Laurens; a granddaughter, Lydia Grace Smith of Greenville; siblings, Maurice W. Cummings (Becky) of Waterloo, David M. Cummings (Deborah) of Laurens, and Gary R. Cummings of Waterloo, Jane Cummings Watson of Hiawassee, Georgia; and a brother-in-law, Allen Smith of Danville, VA.
No services are planned at this time.
