Bobby Lee Hughes, 89, of Laurens, and husband of the late Miriam Norwood Hughes, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Brookstone Terrace in Woodruff.

Born in Gray Court on August 20, 1935, to the late Robert and Sallie Worthy Hughes. A United States Army veteran, Bobby was employed with Laurens Glass and retired from Torrington with 38 years of service.  He enjoyed working at Double Bubbles Car Wash (now Raider Wash) for the last 17 years where he made numerous friends.  A man of deep faith, Bobby was an active member of the Gray Court Church of God, where he found joy in volunteering and serving his community.

He is survived by: his children, Keith Hughes, Vickie Hughes, and Robert Hughes (Tammy); grandchildren, Haley Hughes, Hannah Hughes, and Dana Spoon; great-grandchildren, Kailyn Roberts reared in the home, Mya Spoon, R.J. Spoon, Eli Lambert, and Paxton Lambert; brothers, Billy Ray Hughes (Evelyn) and Paul Hughes (Ginger), and his sister, Mary Jane Hughes.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by nine siblings.

A Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, January 5, 2025, at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Fred Bryant with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the mortuary one hour prior to the service.

The family will be at their respective home.
