William Martin Babb

Gray Court, South Carolina

William Martin Babb, 87, of 2971 Trinity Church Road and husband of the late Roger Marie Gambrell Babb passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024.

Born in Laurens County, he was a son of the late Chapman and Ruby Nelson Babb.  After retirement from Laurens Glass, he enjoyed his true passion in farming and gardening. With a green thumb that many envied, William was particularly known for his specialty in growing tomatoes, which he lovingly tended to and shared with friends and family.

Surviving are his children, Jennie Maria Mahon and husband Furman of Gray Court and Martin Anthony Babb and wife Tracy of Gray Court; grandchildren, William Blake Culbertson (Sarah), Katherine Taylor Babb, and Nicholas Tyler Babb (Caitlin); great grandchildren, Ben and Claire Culbertson; and sister, Sandra Pitts.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Babb; brothers, Calvin Babb, Marvin Babb, Stewart Babb, Jerry Wayne Babb, and Billy Ray Babb; sisters, Louise B. Thomas, Violet B. Alm, Sadie B. Prince, Annie Lee B. Orr, and Mildred Babb.

A memorial service will be held at The Kennedy Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 am conducted by Rev. Ben Rumph.  The family will receive friends at the mortuary immediately following the memorial service.

The family will be at the home of his son, Martin Babb, 1117 Big Pine Road, Gray Court.
