Auditions completed; something for everyone at LCCT’s Wizard of Oz this fall
Clinton, South Carolina – The Laurens County Community Theatre held two rounds of auditions last week for its upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz, and the director is getting the word out that the community theater can use more than just actors for the upcoming show.
Under the direction of Joe Timmons, recently named executive director of the LCCT, there are plenty of opportunities for children and adults to enjoy participating in this season of community theater.
“There are a lot of roles in the show, from main characters to evil trees and flying monkeys,” Timmons said.
LCCT’s production of The Wizard of Oz will be performed at the Clinton High School theater during the first two weekends of October. Rehearsals will typically be Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.
Timmons said it takes a lot of people behind the scenes too to run a musical production, and they’ll need backstage crews for everything from set painting and carpentry to costume design.
“We will take anybody,” Timmons said, who added that the LCCT is absolutely a county-wide theater even though it’s home theater is located in Clinton.
“We have already had some auditioning from Laurens, and everyone is welcome,” Timmons said.
Anyone who would like to assist backstage in any capacity other than singing and acting can email laurenscountytheatre@gmail.com.
The theater at Clinton High School is located at 18132 SC-72, Clinton, SC.
