Red Devils score shutout at Emerald, 47-0

GREENWOOD – Jykorie Gary and Bryson James ran for two touchdowns apiece and Clinton’s defense recorded its second shutout of the season Friday night in a 47-0 win over host Emerald.

With the victory, the Red Devils (8-1 overall, 3-1 Region 3-3A) rebounded from their only setback of the season, a 27-26 loss to Chapman a week ago.

Clinton rolled up 263 yards rushing on 25 carries, averaging over 10 yards per rush.

Gary scored on runs of 10 and 20 yards, and James from 39 and 4 yards.

Senior quarterback Davis Wilson also threw for a pair of scores, completing 8 of 11 passes for 126 yards and connecting with Zech Johnston and Kadon Crawford for touchdowns.

Meanwhile, the Clinton defense held the Vikings (2-7, 1-3) to 155 yards of total offense.

The Red Devils finish the regular season next Friday at Woodruff.
