Jennifer Ann Wier Sawyer

Jennifer Ann Wier Sawyer, age 66, of 215 Mayflower Drive, and wife of Thomas Burr Sawyer, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at her home.
Born in Rutherfordton, N.C., Jennifer was raised in Rock Hill, S.C., by the late Bruce and Erleen Harding Wier. She was a 1970 graduate of Rock Hill High School before earning her Bachelor of Music Education, Voice Principal, Cum Laude in 1974 from Winthrop College. In 1975, Mrs. Sawyer earned a Master of Music Education from Florida State University. She passionately taught Choral Music Education in the SC-K-12 public school system for nearly 30 years. For over 15 years, Mrs. Sawyer taught private piano and voice lessons, and was a church music director. Between 1994-1996, Jennifer toured with Encore Continental Singers and New Life Ministries. She retired from teaching in May 2006. Jennifer was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Clinton. Of her many hobbies, a few of her favorites were their farm, Civil War history and preservation, traveling, hiking, skiing, and music. Jennifer was also a freelance writer who had articles printed in Camp Gazette Magazine, Civil War Courier, Palmetto Partisan, and Greenville Times Examiner. She loved life and lived every day that God gave her to the fullest.
In addition to her husband of 21 years, Jennifer is survived by her brother, Ronald Queen and wife Sandra of Brandon, Fla,; three stepchildren, Gerald Sawyer and wife Ida of Fulton, N.Y., Leah Sawyer of Syracuse, N.Y., and Roberta Sawyer of Syracuse, N.Y.; and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at Westminster Presbyterian Church of Clinton with burial following in Westview Memorial Park in Laurens.
The family will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 12, and also at the church from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service on Saturday, October 13.
