Red Devils take region, blast Blacksburg

Clinton wrapped up its fourth straight region football championship, and its second straight in Region 1-2A Friday night with a 48-7 victory over Blacksburg at T.A. Campbell Stadium.

Senior running back Javen Cook led the Red Devils with 142 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

The Red Devils led 41-0 before the Wildcats finally got on the scoreboard with 6:40 left in the game.

Clinton (7-3 overall, 4-0 Region 1-2A) out-gained Blacksburg 456-112. The Wildcats fell to 1-7 overall, and 1-2 in region play.

After 10 straight games, the No. 2-ranked Red Devils have their open date next week (Oct. 31) prior to the beginning of the Class 2A state playoffs.
