A familiar and respected face in Laurens, Abercrombie is no stranger to the organization. He has been a dedicated contributor and volunteer for Main Street Laurens for many years, demonstrating a deep, personal connection to the community he calls home. His proven passion for both the Main Street mission and the Laurens community makes him a natural fit to lead the organization forward.

“Transitions are often challenging, and we acknowledge that during our recent period without a director, there were areas where we could have improved,” said Holmes. “However, the board is confident that Brad is the right person to guide Main Street Laurens to bigger and better things. His established dedication to our downtown and his vision for its future are exactly what we need at this pivotal moment.”

In his new role, Abercrombie will lead the organization’s efforts utilizing the proven Main Street Four-Point Approach, a comprehensive framework for downtown revitalization. This strategy involves focusing on Economic Vitality to strengthen our city’s economic base while welcoming new businesses; enhancing the physical appearance of downtown through Design and historic preservation; marketing the unique character of our downtown through Promotion and events; and building strong partnerships among all downtown stakeholders through Organization.

“Brad’s skillset is a perfect match for what Main Street is all about. As a non-profit, our ability to be effective is directly tied to the financial support we receive from the community,” said Holmes. “Community sponsorships and partnerships are absolutely critical. They are what allow us to provide the programming, events, and support that our local businesses need to thrive and grow. Brad’s talent for building relationships and his proven ability to mobilize our incredible volunteers are essential for the fundraising that fuels all of our work. We are also confident that he will foster a continued and enhanced working relationship with the City of Laurens. While Main Street Laurens is completely separate from the City, our ability to collaborate is essential to achieving our shared goal of a vibrant downtown.”

To ensure a smooth and effective transition, Main Street Laurens will be engaging with its parent organization, Main Street South Carolina. This partnership will provide comprehensive training and support for both the Board of Directors and for Abercrombie as the new director, ensuring alignment with best practices and access to a statewide network of resources.

The Board of Directors extends its gratitude to the community for its patience during this transition and looks forward to a new chapter of growth and revitalization under the leadership of Brad Abercrombie.

Main Street Laurens is always looking for passionate individuals to help us achieve our mission. Anyone interested in volunteering, joining a committee, or assisting with events is encouraged to reach out. Furthermore, if your business or organization is interested in partnering on an event or other collaboration, we would be delighted to speak with you.
