Coroner identifies Gray Court shooting victim
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday in Gray Court.
Laurens County Coroner Patti Canupp identified the victim as Eric Wade Elder, 45, of Gray Court.
The shooting occurred on South Carolina Highway 101 North and Highway 92. The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and the coroner’s office was called around 5:30 p.m
The LCSO has not released information on a suspect or motive for the shooting.
Canupp said an autopsy was performed Thursday morning. Results determined that Elder died of a single gunshot wound.
The LCSO closed the area to traffic while investigators were at the scene Wednesday. It reopened around 7:30 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
