County hosting Veterans Day ceremony at new Monument Park

Laurens County will host a Veterans Day Ceremony at 10 a.m. Monday at the new Veteran’s Monument and Memorial Park at the Laurens County Library.

The ceremony is the first event held at the Monument and Memorial Park, which was recently completed on the library campus at 1017 West Main Street in Laurens.

The Veterans Monument and Memorial Park, which includes a walking path and monuments honoring veterans from each branch of the U.S. Military, was recently completed.

It was built with $414,200 raised through the Capital Project Sales Tax passed by referendum during the 2020 General Election.

According to the Laurens County School District 56 calendar, Joanna-Woodson Elementary School will observe Veterans Day with a program at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12.
