Remains found in Ware Shoals believed to be missing man

Taylor ‘Zack’ Timms

The remains of a deceased male have been located deep in a wooded area off of Three Bridge Road in the Ware Shoals area.

Though the remains have not been positively identified through scientific testing, the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office has posted on its social media that Taylor “Zack” Timms had been located and offered “sincere thoughts” to his family.

The remains were located on a large swath of woods – some 800 acres – adjacent to Timms’ property in the Ware Shoals area. Cadaver dogs from the S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED) helped lead investigators to the remains.

Laurens County Coroner Patti Canupp said the remains were found in a washed down creek area near the Saluda River more than a mile into the woods off of Three Bridges Road.

She said an autopsy is planned for tomorrow, and then the remains will go to an anthropologist for positive identification.

Timms, 33, was last seen on the morning of Feb. 28 in the Ware Shoals area. The LCSO and other agencies began searching for him on March 3.
