LPD arrests 2 traveling in reported stolen car

The Laurens Police Department arrested two people Wednesday who were traveling in a vehicle stolen out of Myrtle Beach, the LPD said in a release.

According to the LPD, the car was spotted by an electronic License Plate Reader camera as the car entered the city limits, and the vehicle was stopped by a uniformed patrol officer.

The driver, James Anthony Nabors, was taken into custody and charged with receiving stolen goods and driving under suspension. A passenger in the vehicle, Angela Renee Swaney, was taken into custody due to active warrants in Anderson County related to drug offenses.

“The Laurens Police Department’s LPR system continues to be a valuable asset,” the LPD release read. “These tools play a critical role in enhancing public safety, assisting with investigations, and aiding in the apprehension of individuals involved in criminal activity. They also assist with locating missing persons and help protect vulnerable citizens, including those with dementia.”
