Lexington rains on Raiders, 35-0

Laurens senior RB Denari Lee-Jackson (21) had two catches for 20 yards against Lexington.
Lexington jumped out to a commanding first-half lead and cruised to a 35-0 victory over visiting Laurens Friday night.
The Raiders (0-5) suffered a second straight shutout and their third in their last four games. LDHS lost to A.C. Flora 49-0 prior to their open date last week back on Sept. 12 and was blanked at home by Clinton on Aug. 29.
LDHS head coach Greg Porter said he was pleased with his team’s defensive effort in the second half as the unit allowed a Lexington (2-3) a single touchdown over the final two quarters, but the lack of points continues to be a concern. Porter is doing double duty as head coach and offensive coordinator this season.
The Raiders were limited to 86 yards of total offense, including 24 rushing yards on 24 attempts. Freshman quarterback Logan Bragg completed 9 of 22 passes for 62 yards. Meanwhile, the Wildcats rolled up 402 yards of total offense.
“I’ve got to do a better job or I’ve got to hire somebody else to come in here and do it,” Porter said after the game.
The Wildcats snapped a three-game skid with the victory.
The Raiders are set to begin their Region 1-4A schedule next Friday (Oct. 3) with a trip to Fountain Inn (3-2). The Fury won two straight games heading into their open date Friday.
