Gray Court man, 25, killed in Hwy 14 crash
A Gray Court man was killed early Tuesday morning in a single-car accident near Laurens.
The fatal wreck occurred around 4:45 a.m. on Highway 14 near Wilson Drive, said South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt.
The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified the victim Tuesday afternoon at Peter Stefano Israel Matteson, 25, of Gray court.
Bolt said Matteson was driving a 2009 Dodge Caliber and was the sole occupant of the vehicle, which traveled off the right side of the road and struck a tree.
The coroner’s office said Matteson was not wearing a seatbelt when the crash occurred.
The accident is still under investigation by the SCHP.
