Clinton police: Victim hospitalized after grad party shooting

A graduation party in Clinton turned violent Saturday night, and one teen was sent to the hospital after being shot.

According to the Clinton Police Department, a 17-year-old male victim was shot  in the vicinity of East Carolina Avenue and Owens Street around 11 p.m. Police were already on the scene in response for another disturbance when officers heard multiple gunshots.

The victim was transported to Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital and then to Greenville Memorial. Police said he is currently in stable condition.

A release from CPD said the investigation is ongoing.

The release also said around 200 people were at the Carolina Avenue party.

Both Clinton and Laurens District high schools held graduation ceremonies this past Friday morning.
