Deaths in Fountain Inn investigated by LCSO, deceased identified

UPDATE: Deceased identified

Two bodies were discovered in a camper on Highway 418 in rural Fountain Inn by deputies from the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday night, and investigators have determined the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide.

The Laurens County Coroner Patti Canupp said Wednesday afternoon the deceased were identified as Tamara Bowling, 46, and Roy Lawyer, 54, of Fountain Inn.

An autopsy determined both died of gunshot wounds. Canupp said Lawyer shot Bowling and then turned the gun on himself inside the camper, which was at a campground on the 5000 block of Highway 418.

According to the LCSO, deputies were responding to a request for a welfare check around 9 p.m. at the campground and discovered the bodies.
