Teen killed in Gray Court wreck
A teen who died Sunday in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 14 in Gray Court has been identified by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office.
The victim in the crash was Oscar Velazquez-Vazquez, 19, of Gray Court.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 9:50 p.m. Sunday on Highway 14 near Lynn Avenue, which is in front of New Horizon and Welcome Baptist Church.
Velazquez-Vazquez was driving a 2002 GMC pickup westbound on Highway 14 when he ran off the road, struck an embankment and overturned, SCHP Lance Cpl. Nick Pye said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, Canupp said.
