Crusaders drop homecoming contest, 42-20

Jefferson Davis Academy spoiled Laurens Academy’s Homecoming festivities Friday night, defeating the Crusaders 42-20 at LA’s Todd Kirk Field.

JDA led the entire way, taking an 8-0 lead in the first quarter that they extended to 26-14 by halftime.

Three different players scored for LA.

Wide receiver Buddy Baker scored LA’s first touchdown to cut JDA’s lead to 8-6, but JDA answered with two touchdowns before LA running back Clarence Bertoli added an LA score to make it 26-14 heading into halftime.

In the second half, JDA (4-2) added two straight touchdowns before LA’s Garrett Murphy finished the scoring, cutting JDA’s lead to 42-20.

The Crusaders (3-3) travel to Summerville next Friday to take on Faith Christian in another non-conference contest.
