Rawl, Todd lead offensive explosion in Raiders’ return

James Rawl (11) and Zy Todd (1) led Laurens to a 69-10 shellacking at Eastside Friday night.

TAYLORS – Quarterback James Rawl threw for five touchdowns, and Zy Todd ran for 104 yards and a pair of scores to lead Laurens to a 69-10 win at Eastside Friday night.

The Region 2-4A victory came after a two-week layoff for the Raiders (3-3 overall, 1-0 region) brought on by COVID-19 cases and quarantines within the LDHS program.

Against Eastside, LDHS made up for lost time, rolling up 425 yards of total offense, while holding the Eagles (1-7, 0-2) to 167 total yards.

The Raiders scored all of their points over the first three quarters and led 48-10 by halftime.

Rawl, who completed 15 of 19 passes for 245 yards, connected on touchdown throws twice to both Michael Mankake and Cayson Elledge and once with Jay Pulley.

Todd’s 104 yards came on only four carries. Tye Roberson, who carried 10 times for 46 yards, added a touchdown run for the Raiders.

LDHS is scheduled to travel to White Knoll next Friday for a non-region game before ending the regular season against Greer at K.C. Hanna Stadium on Oct. 29.
