‘Friday Night Live’ – Laurens welcomes county, PC downtown tonight
Presbyterian College students and area residents can enjoy one of the last Friday Night Live concerts tonight, Friday, Sept. 17, when the City of Laurens and Main Street Laurens host “Your Home Away From Home.”
“We will be doing all our regular events, with corn hole and other games in the pedestrian alley, and businesses and restaurants will be open late,” said Jonathan Irick, Director of Main Street Laurens.
The Palmetto Brothers Dispensary has sponsored the Tim Lee Band for this Friday, and while the event begins at 6 p.m., the band will play from 7 to 9 p.m.
Irick said both Main Street and City of Laurens have been networking with the PC Department of Student Life, and that’s how this weekend’s downtown Laurens event has come to be.
“We were looking for ways to get students involved with events in Laurens as well as Clinton because we are all part of the Laurens County experience,” Irick said. “This weekend will be the first time for that and businesses will have specials offered to students with PC IDs.”
The City of Laurens Trolley will make trips to and from the college campus to bring students to Laurens.
“We are committed to partnering with PC and growing a ‘one county’ culture,” said Laurens Mayor Nathan Senn, adding that the city hopes to see a growing relationship in which students and faculty learn to appreciate what Clinton and Laurens have to offer.
“Friday Night Live has been a tremendous success and has really allowed us to come together in new ways as a community,” Senn said, “and it’s only natural that PC should be part of that.”
