The Presbyterian College softball team finished off its Blue Hose Invitational on a cold Sunday afternoon at home, picking up its second tie of the weekend.
PC, trailing 9-1 through 3 1/2 innings, scored eight times in the bottom of the fourth, including a two-run single from Alyssa Batastini that tied the game, and the contest between PC and East Tennessee State was called after five innings with the two teams tied at 9-all. The game was stopped due to fading light at the softball complex.
PC saw its record move to 2-0-2 with the tie, the second in three days. It was also the second tie of the afternoon as ETSU and Akron tied at 6-all due to time constraints.
Chelsea Lyons had three hits and an RBI, while scoring twice, and Courtney White had two hits and scored twice. Batastini, who came into the game as a relief pitcher in the fifth, went the final inning with one walk allowed. At the plate she had a run-scoring ground out in the second, then doubled her first at-bat in the fourth and singled home two runs in her second at-bat. PC sent 13 batters to the plate in the fourth inning alone.
Taylor Ward went 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, but got a no-decision. White came on for 1 1/3 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and three walks, but also got the no-decision due to the tie.
PC takes part in the Coastal Carolina Tournament, starting Friday, in Conway.
