Laurens County teams both suffer one-sided losses

It was a rough night for both the Laurens and Clinton varsity football teams Friday.

Laurens fell for the first time this season as the Raiders were roughed up by No. 1 Chapman, 61-24. Running back D.J. Twitty rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns, and the Panthers scored five touchdowns in a span of 7 minutes, 8 seconds in the second quarter to put the game away.

Raiders’ running back Troy Dendy rushed for 122 yards, while Duane Martin had 90 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Laurens (1-1) visits Irmo next week.

Clinton: The Red Devils had a rough go of it as well against the Greer Yellow Jackets, 41-0, falling to 0-2 on the young season. Clinton hosts Aiken next week.
