PC names new athletic director

Presbyterian College announced Monday that Danny Sterling was hired as the new athletic director. He replaces Brian Reese, who left in January for the AD post at Lander University.

Sterling joins PC after previously being the athletic director of the University of Virginia’s College at Wise. In his post at Wise, Sterling ran a department that featured 45 employees, more than 300 students, and multi-million dollar budget. The Cavaliers, during his tenure, won the 2016 Mountain East Conference men’s golf championship and the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament bid.

Sterling graduated from Virginia Tech in 1994 with a bachelor of science degree, and earned a master of science degree in 1997 – also from Va. Tech. Both degrees were in Health and Physical Education.

Sterling and his wife, Kimberly, have a 16-year-old daughter, Marley.
