    Mar-25-17

The Bell Center for the Blind in Laurens is offering free vision and health screenings next Saturday morning, March 25, at the Laurens County Library’s community meeting room, and a Spanish speaker will be present to assist. The screenings will be available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and are offered for children and adults. It is estimated that one in four children have undiscovered vision problems, and the Spot Vision Screener can detect nearsightedness, farsightedness, blurred vision, unequal refractive power, eye misalignment and anisocoria, which is unequal pupil size.

In addition to the vision screenings, volunteers from the Presbyterian College School of Pharmacy will also provide free of charge blood sugar and blood pressure tests. They will also assist people who bring all current medications by developing a medical record prints out to be carried for use in emergency or for physician visits.

The Bell Center of the Blind, the primary sponsor, will also have a working seeing eye dog, “Jasper,” and a retired seeing eye dog, “Jackson,” to meet those who attend the free health screenings.
