Tuesday playoffs: LA on to Game 3; Raiders, Red Devils advance
No. 2-seeded Andrew Jackson bounced back from a Game 1 loss Laurens Academy to force a deciding Game 3 in the SCISA Class 2A state baseball playoffs.
The Crusaders fell 7-5 in Game 2, following a 6-4 victory Monday in Game 1 in Bamberg.
LA committed four errors and two Andrew Jackson pitchers limited the Crusaders to three hits, but walked 12 batters while striking out 12.
The Crusaders led 4-2 after the third inning, but gave up five runs in the fourth, three of which were unearned thanks to a one-out LA error.
LA starting pitcher Braydon Burke went the distance, scattering six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Of the Warriors seven runs, only three were earned.
Elias Littleton, Elijah Hornberger, Evan Asalone, George Sherer and Hodges Compton each drove in a run for the Crusaders (11-6).
The three-game playoff series is set to return to Bamberg for a deciding Game 3 Thursday with the winner advancing to the SCISA 2A semifinals.
