Pedestrian killed when struck by vehicle on Highway 76

A pedestrian was struck and killed early Thursday morning on Highway 76 at Holly Grove Church Road in Laurens.

According to S.C. Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, a Nissan pickup was traveling east on Highway 76 around 4 a.m. when it struck two pedestrians who were in the roadway.

The identity of the deceased has yet to be released.

One of the pedestrians was killed and the other was injured and transported by EMS to a local hospital. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

Bolt said the incident is still under investigation by the SCHP and the Laurens County Coroner’s Office.
