Coroner: Body of Greenwood man found in lake

UPDATE: Victim identified by coroner’s office

Two fishermen discovered a body floating in Lake Greenwood Friday in the Waterloo area, according to the Laurens County Coroner’s Office.

Officers from the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) and the Laurens County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene and the body was retrieved fro the water.

The victim was identified Sunday as Stevie Charles Williams, 56, of Greenwood. The American Red Cross is notifying Williams’ son, who is serving in the U.S. Military in Germany.

A forensic autopsy has been scheduled, and the investigation headed by the SCDNR and the coroner’s office is ongoing.
