Weather concerns cause changes to gridiron schedule
Clinton and Laurens Academy will play their varsity football games a day early this week due to heavy rains from Hurricane Francine expected in the Upstate Friday and Saturday.
“Francine” was upgraded from a Tropical Storm to a Class 1 Hurricane Tuesay night.
Clinton is now scheduled to play its varsity game at Chapman Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. The JV game at Clinton has been moved to Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Laurens Academy will now travel to Richard Winn Academy in Winnsboro at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
LA’s varsity and middle school volleyball matches scheduled for Thursday at W.W. King Academy have been cancelled. The Crusaders’ middle school football game at W.W. King scheduled for Thursday has been postponed until Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 6 p.m. at W.W. King.
As of noon Wednesday, Laurens District High had announced no changes to its athletic schedules for this week. The Raiders are scheduled to travel to A.C. Flora in Columbia at 7:30 p.m. Friday. That game is to be played at Memorial Stadium on the campus of Dreher High School in Columbia.
