WLBG radio host Randy Stevens killed in crash

WLBG Radio host Randy Stevens was killed Friday morning in a motorcycle accident, the station reported.
WLBG Radio’s morning talk show was dominated by a heartbreaking loss for the Laurens radio station and the community.
The station reported that talk show host Randy Stevens was killed in a motorcycle accident Friday morning.
Station owner-manager Emil Finley hosted the morning talk show usually hosted by Stevens and took calls from listeners with remembrances of the long-time radio personality, reporter and motorcycle enthusiast.
“I’m still trying to digest what happened. I don’t know what we’ll do here, but we can’t really think about that right now,” Finley said on air Friday morning.
Finley said Stevens was riding his motorcycle from his home in Whitmire in the pre-dawn hours of Friday morning – as he usually did – when he was involved in an accident.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, Stevens was traveling north on Highway 176 a tenth of a mile east of Whitmire when the collision occurred. Bolt said Stevens collided with a 2002 Dodge SUV, which was turning south onto Highway 176 from Church Street.
Stevens succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash at an area hospital. No one else was injured. The accident is still under investigation by the SCHP.
“We’re going to miss him greatly,” Finley said, closing the show.

Although I have not seen Randy in a few years I would have dropped everything if he needed me. Many of us would. God Bless him and his family. Hugs
Randy “Steam” Stevens was an American Patriot and poster person of what “Selfless Service” resembled.
He’ll physically be gone, however his spirit will ride and inspire for an eternity.
Rest In Peace Brother Steam.

He will be missed. Prayers for his family and friends
Randy was a unique radio talent who could do it all. He invited members of Holy Spirit Catholic Church several times to do interviews on his morning show about our church events. He was entertaining, informative and enthusiastic. And he was sincere. Radio in our area won’t be the same without him.
He was a great father and man. I can’t begin to say how much he will be missed.
