PC’s Gustafson marks first day in office with video remarks

PC President Anita Gustafson
Newly minted Presbyterian College President Anita Gustafson reported for her first day on the job Tuesday, releasing a video on PC’s social media platforms.
Gustafson, who spent nearly two decades as a member of the faculty and administration at PC before leaving for Mercer in 2016, was hired in June as PC’s 20th president. She replaces the departed Matthew vandenBerg, who took the same post at Ohio Wesleyan.
In the video, Gustafson thanked the PC community for welcoming her back to campus and outlined her plans for the immediate future.
“In the coming months, we will partner together to continue work on the strategic plan as it outlines our commitments and plans for academic excellence,” she said. “I know our brightest days are ahead of us.”
She also alluded to a planned “listening tour,” during which she will meet with PC alumni and supporters.
Gustafson, who is PC’s first female president, served as the dean if the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Mercer following her initial 19 years at PC.
“I have been overwhelmed and humbled by the amazing support and warm greetings since my appointment was announced,” she said. “But that’s PC – a wonderful place where you find your people, people who share your values and help you transform into your highest potential.”
