Pedestrian struck, killed by pickup in Laurens

A Gray Court woman was killed Sunday night after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Highway 76 in Laurens.

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, the victim was walking west on Highway 76 about two miles east of Laurens near Templeton Road when she was struck by a 2004 Dodge pickup truck that was also traveling westbound around 9:47 p.m.

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 55-year-old Roma Alexander.

Alexander was airlifted to Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
