Knights extend Crusaders’ skid to 4 games

W.W. King Academy sent visiting Laurens Academy to its fourth-straight loss Friday night, downing the Crusaders 68-12 in Batesburg-Leesville.

The Knights led 28-0 before LA got on the scoreboard with a Garrett Murphy touchdown catch in the second quarter.

King (7-1 overall, 4-0 SCISA 8-man Region 1-1A) then reeled off 40 unanswered points in the second half.

The Crusaders (3-5, 1-1) got a second touchdown from senior running back Clarence Bertoli to end the scoring.

LA returns to action next Friday (Oct. 21) for a region game at Newberry Academy. The Crusaders defeated Newberry 44-19 when the two teams met in a non-region game on Sept. 2.
