Martha Joyce Morse Madrazo

Birmingham, Alabama

Martha Joyce Morse Madrazo passed away from natural causes on August 16, 2022; she was 88 and lived in Birmingham, Alabama where her daughter, Lynn Holcombe and son-in-law John Holcombe reside.

She was born in Anderson County, but was raised in Laurens, SC. After graduating from Furman University (a music major) in 1956, she married the love of her life, Lee M. Madrazo who was from Ohio and just resigned from the Air Force. Joyce and Lee lived in Greenville, SC where they had their only child, Catherine Lynn Madrazo.

Eventually both Joyce and Lee became teachers in the Greenville County School system and worked there until they each retired. Joyce taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades and enjoyed her
teaching career. Her hobbies were gardening, reading, playing piano, and watching movies.

She played piano most of her life and flute and piccolo in her high school and college marching bands. Piano was her favorite instrument to play and she loved it.

In 2016 Joyce and Lee moved to Birmingham, AL due to health reasons and to be near to their daughter, Lynn.

She is preceded in death by her parents: EB and Edna Morse who lived in Laurens and her husband Lee Madrazo.

Left behind are her daughter Lynn (John), 3 grandchildren, Philip Holcombe (Lyndsey), Lauren Bonnema (Brett), and Thomas Holcombe (Jessica). Also she had 9 great grandchildren, Ben,
Mamie, and Phils Holcombe; Caleb, Ethan, and Harris Bonnema; Molly, Louise and Caroline Holcombe.

She will be missed greatly by her daughter Lynn.

Great teacher, loving wife, and graced by God for salvation through Jesus Christ in 2021.

Joyce was at peace in her life.
