A single-vehicle accident claimed the life a passenger in the vehicle early Friday morning on Charlottes Road in Clinton.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt, a 2013 Jeep Cherokee with three occupants was traveling east on Charlottes Road around 1:30 a.m. when it ran off the right side of the road and struck a culvert before overturning and hitting a utility pole.
A passenger in the rear passenger seat was killed in the wreck.
The driver, 26, was injured and taken to an area hospital. A 22-year-old male passenger in the front seat was also taken to an area hospital with injuries.
The identity of the victim has not been identified by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office, pending notification of family members.
The crash is still under under investigation by the SCHP.
