Gray Court-Owings student arrested for threat
One day after a fatal shooting at a Greenville County middle school, Laurens County Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 8th-grader at Gray Court-Owings Middle School for posting a threatening message on social media.
According to information from Laurens County School District 55, the message was posted to Snapchat around noon Friday.
Upon learning of the post, GCO administrators and the school resource officer followed safety protocols to isolate the student and ensure the safety of other students, a release from District 55 said.
The LCSO responded and placed the student who allegedly made the threats under arrest. No weapons found no weapons on campus.
“Please be assured that the safety of our students and staff is a top priority,” the release from District 55 read. “We will not tolerate anyone who disrupts our safe and positive learning environment. We appreciate your patience and cooperation and continue to ask parents to have conversations with their students about the seriousness of such offenses that impact safety in our our schools.”
