Ralph Edward Mechling, age 69, husband of Jill Nobles Mechling for 44 years passed away peacefully at Hospice House of Laurens County in Clinton, SC on his birthday, March 17, after losing the battle with cancer.
Ralph was born and raised in Columbia, SC where he attended Dreher High School and graduated from Booker T Washington High School. He was a veteran of the US Navy and returned to Columbia to graduate from the University of South Carolina. Home of his favorite team, The South Carolina Gamecocks! He was a retired and co-owner of Ink4, a commercial printing company in Spartanburg, SC.
Surviving are the loves of his life, daughters Jessica Mechling Higgins (Morgan) of Belleview, NE, and Mary Kathryn Mechling Davidson (Thomas) of Clinton, SC, five grandchildren Desi (16), Sebella (13), Staten (9), Edward (11), and Belle (6). He also leaves four brothers, Roy, Jr. (Dorothy), Ronald (Beverly), Raymond (Louise), and Randy (Mary) and a sister, Brenda Hudson (David), fifteen nieces and nephews and their extended families. He was truly blessed with a loving family.
The family wishes to thank Ralph’s doctors and care teams, but especially the awesome doctor and staff at Hospice in Clinton, who made this process comforting for Ralph and family.
In lieu of flowers or food, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Laurens County, 1304 Springdale Dr, Clinton, SC 29325 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The immediate family requests time to grieve at their home. They will plan a private ceremony to release his ashes.
