Edna Jean Faulkner Stephens

Mrs. Edna Jean Faulkner Stephens, age 89 of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Born in Laurens, SC, on November 19, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Maggie Bostic Faulkner and the late William Herbert Faulkner.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Elbert Stephens and W.L. “Billy” Simpson; sons, Donnie Simpson, Randy Stephens, and Barry Stephens; sisters, Jeanetta Faulkner, Geneva Glen, Thelma Hendrix, Selma Chumbly, and Mattie Parker; brothers, Houston Faulkner, Willie Lee Faulkner, Olin Faulkner, Roy Faulkner, and John Calvin Faulkner; and a grandchild, Bryan Shank.
Edna enjoyed gardening and working in her yard and loved spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.
Survivors include four daughters: Gwen Simpson (Rocky) Barker, Buchanan; Linda Stephens (Randy) Sims, Weedowee, AL; Kristy Stephens (Bennett) Harper, Crossville, TN; and Lee Stephens Dempsey, McDonough; daughter-in-law, Annette Stephens; and sister-in-law, Frances Faulkner of Laurens, SC. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Kim Simpson Barker, Josh Barker, Bryan Stephens, Brandon Stephens, Randy Stephens, Melissa Stephens Williams, Leslie Walker Harper, Daniel Walker and Amanda Parker; great-grandchildren: Averick, Austin, Dylan, Ashlyn, Colton, Haley, Madison, Emily, Samantha, Jacob, Micah, Melaki, Ben, Charley, Ayden, Abbey, Andrew, and Ali; seven great great-grandchildren; sister nieces, Anne Iddins and Betty Phillips; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family.
A memorial graveside service will be held at Noon on Saturday, December 11, 2021, from the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Corky Addison officiating and Randy Stephens delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends on Saturday morning between the hours of 10:00 and 11:30 at the home of Gwen and Rocky Barker, 5233 GA Highway 120, Buchanan, GA.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Edna Stephens be directed to Mt. Carmel Church Christmas Mission, 235 Mt. Carmel Church Rd, Temple, GA 30179, attention Gwen Barker or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
