Clinton advances, Raiders fall in tennis playoffs
The Clinton High School girls tennis team continued its Class 3A state playoff journey Tuesday with a 6-0 victory over visiting Seneca.
Meanwhile, Laurens’ playoff run ended Tuesday with a 6-0 loss at top-seeded A.C. Flora. The Raiders finished as the No. 2 seed in Region 2-4A and won their opening-round match 6-0 over Lancaster last Thursday.
With their win Tuesday, the Red Devils set up a third-round match Thursday at Belton-Honea Path at 5 p.m.
Rain is in the forecast across the Upstate Thursday.
A Clinton victory at BHP and a Chapman victory over Powdersville would set up a meeting for the Upper State championship. The Region 3-3A rivals have met twice this year with Chapman earning both victories.
