Woman struck, killed on Highway 221 in Laurens

A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday night on U.S. Highway 221 near Jimmy Hellams Drive, about a half-mile north of Laurens.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the victim was standing in the southbound lanes of 221 when she was struck by two vehicles who were traveling south on the highway at 10:29 p.m.

The Laurens County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Angellic Kirkpatrick, 23, of Laurens.

SCHP Master Trooper Brandon Bolt said the victim was first struck by a 2018 Dodge Journey and then hit by a 2000 Chrysler minivan.

Bolt said the victim was not wearing reflective clothing.
