Shooting leaves one dead in Clinton, victim identified

UPDATE: The shooting victim has been identified by the Laurens County Coroner’s Office as Sharde D. Swinger, 34, of Clinton. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday morning. According to Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp, the victim was deceased at the scene. The incident is still under investigation by the Clinton Police and SLED.

The Clinton Police Department is investigating a shooting that left one person dead Wednesday morning at Countryside Townhouses.

According to the CPD, the shooting occurred around 10:55 a.m. Wednesday. Police officers arrived to find the victim deceased and called the Laurens County Coroner’s Office to the scene.

No information on the victim has been released as of yet.

A “person of interest” has been detained by CPD investigators with cooperation from the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, according to CPD Maj. Crystal Roberts.

The investigation in the shooting is ongoing.
