Rev. Ken Maddox

William Kenneth Maddox, 88, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020.

Born October 3, 1931 in Laurens, he was the son of the late Marshall and Lila Hill Maddox and the husband of Gladys Ridgeway Maddox for 66 years.

Ken spent his childhood at Connie Maxwell Children’s home in Greenwood after the death of his parents. He was 1949 graduate of Laurens High and a 1969 graduate of Southeastern Seminary. He served his country in the US Navy from 1949-1953 and Air Force from 1954-1957, having served in the Korean Conflict receiving 2 Bronze Stars and was a Chaplain fleet tug sailor.

Rev. Maddox served his lord as a member of Jackson Baptist Church, a Baptist Pastor from 1969-1982 in South Carolina and Virginia and many years after with his nursing home ministry and officiated a number of services at Stribling Funeral Home.

Survivors also include his grandchildren, Kenneth Redkey, Christopher Redkey, and Jamie Redkey. He was predeceased by a daughter, Marsha Ann Redkey; a grandson, Mark Redkey; a brother, Marshall Earl Maddox; and a sister, Wilma Thomas.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Mount Gallagher Baptist Church Cemetery 11570 Indian Mound Rd Ware Shoals with Rev. Jim McMakin officiating. The family will receive friends at the home in Duncan and immediately following the service at the graveside.
