Doris Turner Thompson

Dateline – Laurens, South Carolina

Doris Turner Thompson, age 88, of 127 Cut Off Road, and widow of Charles Haskell “Hack” Thompson, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Hospice of Laurens County Hospice House.

Born in Laurens, she was a daughter of the late Henry Burl and Anna Susie Jane Sosebee Turner.  Mrs. Thompson was formerly employed with Laurens Mill working in the office.  A member of Union Baptist Church, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her four children, Brenda T. Todd and husband Jerry of Hickory Tavern, Glenda T. Ricketts of Hickory Tavern, Ronald Thompson of Waterloo, and Johnny Thompson and wife Susan of Laurens; eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren and expecting another very soon.

In addition to her husband and parents, Doris was predeceased by one brother, five sisters, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Southerland.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 pm on Monday, September 16, 2019, at Union Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Marcus Bishop with burial following in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her granddaughter on Thursday; Heather Berryhill, 6208 Indian Mound Road, Waterloo, SC 29384 and will receive friends at the church from 4:00-5:00 pm on Monday.
