Margie Nell Langston Hughes

Gray Court, SC

Margie Nell Langston Hughes, age 79, of 6499 Hwy 14, and widow of William Paul Hughes, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Gray Court, she was a daughter of the late Rufus James and Eva Douglas Langston.  A Godly woman, Margie was previously a member of Highland Home Baptist Church and currently was a member at Gray Court First Baptist Church.  She was a straight “A” student and valedictorian of Gray Court Owings School class of 1958.  An avid reader she was a history buff of Laurens County. She was retired as secretary from Laurens Mill.

She is survived by: her children, Hope Hughes of Gray Court and Kimberly Malone and husband Dwayne of Laurens; grandchildren, Dyanna Makocy (Zoltan), Hope N. Murphy (Todd), Austin Hughes (Samantha), and “D.J.” Malone; great grandchildren, Abby, Hunter-Lee, Carter, Zee, Blakely, and Rylee.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by: three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, April 28, 2019, at Highland Home Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Ben Rumph and Rev. James Manning with burial in Highland Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
